Photoshop: Converting 8bit pic to a 24bit pic??

As far as I know, all digital images are automatically in the 8bit mode. But I have to include a profile pic in an application and the requirements strictly dictate that it should be in the 24bit color mode and that 8bit color mode pics are not accepted. I've been breaking my head trying to find how to do it in Photoshop, but all I could find was 8bit/16bit/32bit under Image%26gt;Mode%26gt;

Could anyone please advise? Thanks in advance.

Save it as a BMP file. This format allows for 24 bit, and its an option when you "save as" to this file type. A 24 bit requirement isn't uncommon, its the standard image type in windows and some other softwares.

24 bit mode IS 8 bit. There are three channels - RED, GREEN and BLUE. They are all 8 bits each. Some people combine the three 8's to make 24bits. It's not technically correct but it is very common. So your 8bit image is exactly what they require.

Note: don't save as a BMP as this will take up a lot more diskspace and isn't a common filetype anymore. Save as JPG and move the quality slider to 6 or above. As you move the slider, the JPG save box will tell you what the image size will be.

For some strange reasons, whenever I open up a pic on my comp that has a white/black background, Photoshop automatically cuts out the image, leaving the "gray and white" grid in the background.

What can I do to fix this?

~ Photoshop Alpha Glass ~?

((This question has been posted in a major photoshop forum for 1 week, with no answers))

I've been trying to figure this out for some time.

The image I want to create has to have an alpha channel.

It has to be in 32 bit .tga format when saved.

What I need to do is create a window frame that is semi transparent were the glass is.

The finished product I've been trying to make will have a texture for the window glass, but you can see threw it.

Any ideas on how to do this?

In case your wondering, I'm wanting to use it for Secondlife .

You can mess with blurs, lighting and all of that to make it have a glassy like appearance. As far as being see through, make the frame a separate layer from the glass materials and make whatever you want to show up behind the glass as its own layer. Change the opacity of the of the glass material so that it is slightly transparent. Then structure the layers so that everything looks proper.

If you still have the Photoshop CD, you can search for that missing DLL on the CD... then copy the DLL and pasted it in here (C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop CS)... if it's a normal install on Windows XP. Other than that, you can uninstall the program... then reinstall it. Hope this helps.

Re-install it.
I'd recommend google searching dll downloads and go to a site that you can download dll's from and then add it to the corresponding folder. Alternatively if that doesn't work you could re-download it if possible and it may work. If all above fail email the company and ask for further directions...

Actually, I have 4 very similar documents. They're JPEGs and I have Photoshop CS2. They are scanned flyers but I need to clean them up. You know how you scan a document that has something written on the back and it shows up in the scan faintly? How do you clean that up easily? I could clean it up manually but I didn't know if there is a certain filter that could clean it up in a snap or if there's a trick I don't know?

You can super up the contrast, if it's just balck and white, then whatever is left that you don't want you would have to go in and erase with the rubber stamper or eraser.
Levels and brightness and contrast.
use PAINT in photoshop...try cloning ....

Easy, since you use photoshop. Make sure the layer palette is open. All you have to do is to place the person (on the bottom layer) and the kiss make-up on the top layers.

Right above the 2 layers, there should be an option for a scroll down list with the name "normal" on it. Just scroll down the list and pick the one you like.
